National Museum of History (NMH), Sofia

The National Museum of History (NMH) was established on 5 May 1973. It is a national treasure of the Republic of Bulgaria, a repository of relics from all over the world, and one of the largest historical museums on the Balkan Peninsula. The museum collections are diverse and cover the period from the fifth millennium BC to the present. They consist of more than 650,000 cultural monuments and an enormous historical archive. Some of the most precious features of the collections are Thracian, Greek, and Roman monuments from ancient Europe, works of art, icons, ethnographic materials, orders, etc.
