With the dossier articles on its website, the Goethe-Institut Iraq offers a glance into culture and society of Iraq; topics that are often neglected in current media reporting. The articles contribute to making cultural developments in the country visible. For the year 2023, we are looking for freelance writers for journalistic articles related to arts and culture. Topics will be creative spaces and art and the environment. They will work in close coordination with the Information and Library department.
Requirements
- Excellent writing skills, German or English preferred
- Knowledge of Iraq, in particular the Kurdistan Iraq region, and interest in the activities of the Goethe-Institut
- Kurdish and Arabic knowledge
- outgoing and good communication skills
- Structured and network-oriented way of working
- Journalistic experience (advantageous)
- Writing journalistic articles related to arts and culture in Iraq with a focus on creative spaces as well as art and the environment for the Goethe-Institut Iraq in close coordination with the Information & Library department
- Comprehensive research about topics of the articles
- Contacting relevant people and, if necessary, conducting interviews (in person or via video call)
- possibly bring in own suggestions for topics

All offers are evaluated according to the criteria of price (40%), proven expertise (30%) and professional skills (30%).
