Chai Talk Baghdad: Dates in July

On 7 and 21 July, literature and culture enthusiasts meet as usual for the Chai Talks on Mutanabbi Street, organised by the Goethe-Institut Iraq and Al-Mada Foundation in Baghdad.
The 7 July event is dedicated to the Iraqi Palestinian composer Rouhi Al-Khammash, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year.
Meanwhile, architecture enthusiasts will want to mark 21 July in their calendars: Dr. Pedro Azara, professor of aesthetics at the Barcelona School of Architecture, will walk us through the architectural history of Baghdad in the 1950s and 60s, a time when architects like Le Corbusier and Ponti were invited to work in the city and left their indelible mark to this day.

German-Kurdish Concerts

The band SCHORL3 from Hamburg have collaborated with Gashtyar Kawa, Aras Izadeen, and Shadman Muhamad to create a unique German Kurdish performance to be presented at two concerts, in Erbil and in Dohuk. The fusion of different music styles, inspired by indie, synthwave, and funk, combined with Kurdish instruments and vocals, showcases the immense potential of collaboration, not just beyond stylistic boundaries.
