The project "Diversity in Children's Books" is dedicated to promoting and celebrating diversity in the Middle East and North Africa through the power of children's books. Stories offer a unique way to convey cultural identities and encourage children in the region to see and appreciate their own stories.
The project "Diversity in Children's Books" brings together authors and illustrators from five countries in the Middle East and North Africa: Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Morocco, and Egypt. These author-illustrator pairs work together on local and regional children's stories that reflect the rich cultural and social diversity of their respective countries.
OUR GOALS:
Cultural Representation: Develop stories that authentically reflect the diversity and cultural identity of each country.
Education and Awareness: Encourage children and their families to think about and discuss cultural differences and social challenges.
Inclusion: Promote inclusive stories that sensitively address themes such as disability and social diversity.
Collaboration and Networking: Foster collaboration between authors, illustrators, and education experts to maximize the quality and reach of our children's books.
