About the project
Leveraging the transformative power of arts and culture for conflict-affected populations, Yemen Creative Hubs aims to mitigate the impacts of the humanitarian crisis and challenges for the Yemeni civil society through establishing cultural hub structures, qualification opportunities and grant-schemes.
Yemen Creative Hubs is initiated by the consortium formed by the Goethe-Institut with Aden Again Cultural Foundation, Basement Cultural Foundation, Meem Art Initiative (MEEMZ), Yemen Art Base, and Your ECHO, funded by the European Union and co-funded by Goethe-Institut.
Furthermore Yemen Creative Hubs aims to bring together local artists and cultural managers in Yemen while building a bridge to the Yemeni diaspora at the same time and deepening the commitment to cultural cooperation in Yemen and beyond.
The project started in April 2022 and it will be implemented over two years.
Main activity of the project is the inauguration of three hubs in Sana'a, Mukalla and Aden. Moreover qualification and financing opportunities for individual cultural workers and cultural organizations in Yemen will be offered.
Qualification opportunities include cultural management trainings, English courses, as well as a mentoring program and numerous events and exhibition opportunities in the local hubs.
