WAFRA is a series of community-driven events designed to inspire positive, sustainable behaviors towards nature. With a focus on practical, actionable steps, WAFRA encourages local communities in Amman to take small, meaningful actions to address environmental challenges in today’s ecosystem.
The Inaugural Event – A Sustainable Start
Our first event kicked off at Dialogpunkt/German Lounge in the German Jordanian University (GJU), located in Jabal Amman. With textiles as the theme, we hosted two hands-on workshops that showcased creative, eco-friendly solutions—teaching participants how to upcycle clothing and extend the life of their garments. A creative stitching and sewing workshop by Qashabeyyeh took place in parallel with Linocut technique workshop by C-Hub. The event featured delicious, eco-conscious bites arranged by organic food suppliers “Dibeen” and a lively musical performance by the talented Jeena Haddadin, creating a fun and friendly space for learning and connection.

Building on the momentum, we invite you to the second installment of WAFRA, where we’ll explore one of life’s essentials: Food. In this edition, we’ll shine a light on the critical elements that bring food to our tables—focusing on water, farming practices, and the often-overlooked processes behind food production.

This eye-opening game helps participants explore the concept of environmental justice by analyzing the impacts of water security and environmental hazards on daily life.
DIY Workshop: Create Your Own Greenhouse
Learn practical tips for building a home greenhouse, promoting sustainable urban farming and food security.
Film Screening: “Taste the Waste”
A thought-provoking documentary by activist and filmmaker Valentin Thurn that explores the global food waste crisis and how we can take action to reduce it.
