The Goethe-Institut, the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, is seeking a qualified diversity trainer for its project "Diversity in Children’s Books." This initiative aims to emphasize the importance of diversity in children's literature, with a special focus on representing people with disabilities. In the project, authors and illustrators will collaborate to create and publish diverse children's stories, guided by the expertise of the selected trainer.

Diversity Trainer in the Middle East (Online/Hybrid)

Scope of Services

 
  • Develop and implement a training program on diversity tailored to the Middle East, specifically for Jordanian, Palestinian, Iraqi, Egyptian and Moroccan cultural and legal contexts.
  • Create training materials and resources in both Arabic and English.
  • Conduct online/hybrid workshop for authors and illustrators, addressing various aspects of diversity relevant to children's books in the Middle East.
  • Advise on:
    • cultural nuances and legal considerations related to diversity in the MENA region.
    • promoting diversity in children's literature, considering local cultural and legal frameworks.
  • Optional: Provide mentorship (three 1-hour sessions for five tandems, totaling 15 hours) to authors and illustrators during the story creation process.
 

Eligibility Criteria


Required:

  • Proven experience with diversity topics, especially in the Middle East.
  • In-depth knowledge of cultural and legal frameworks regarding diversity in the Middle East.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English.
  • Residency in the Middle East.
  • Willingness to travel within the Middle East.

Preferred:

  • Experience in diversity in children's literature or education.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • The offer must be in writing, in English, dated, and signed. No draft offers will be accepted.
  • Fees should be listed in EUR or JOD without VAT. VAT should be indicated separately.

  • Submit your complete offer by July 3, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered.

3. Evaluation Criteria: 

  •   Price: 30%
  •   Professional Experience: 50%
  •   Quality of Presentation: 20%
