The Goethe-Institut Jordan is looking for a committed and qualified Cultural Programme Lead as of 1 September 2024. The position is unlimited. The contract is initially concluded for one year with the possibility of extension.
The Goethe-Institut e.V. is an intermediary organisation of the Federal Republic of Germany. It aims to promote the German language abroad, to foster international cultural cooperation, and to convey a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information about cultural, social, and political life.
MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Strategic planning and management of the annual cultural programmes of the Goethe-Institut Jordan
- Observation of the cultural scenes in Jordan, the Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) region, and Germany
- Active networking and fostering existing networks in the field of culture and civil society
- Building up new partnerships
- Curatorial tasks, e.g.
- Conception and implementation of cultural events and programmes in Jordan, the SWANA region, and possibly in Germany
- Selection of experts and artists
- Project development and preparation of project proposals
- Acquisition of third-party funding
- Coordination and communication with stakeholders, donors, and project partners
- Contract negotiation and drafting
- Compliant management, expenditure, and documentation of project budgets
- Reporting, monitoring & evaluation, knowledge management
- Responsibility for press and public relations work incl. social media, text creation in various languages
- Exchange and cooperation with diplomatic representations, co-representation of the Goethe-Institut within the EUNIC cluster of European cultural institutes in Jordan
- Management of the programme team
- Cross-departmental cooperation, e.g. with the language, information, and library departments
YOUR PROFILE
- Completed academic university degree or equivalent qualification
- Several years of experience in curating, managing, implementing, and evaluating cultural events and programmes
- Experience in managing large-scale projects with a high number of stakeholders and partners and large budgets
- Good knowledge of the cultural scenes in Jordan, Germany and the SWANA region
- Ability to identify relevant topics, trends, and priorities
- Intercultural competence and sensibility
- Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and context-sensitively, both orally and in writing
- Good IT skills (MS 365 suite: Office, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc., image editing, digital tools), willingness to familiarise with relevant software
- Excellent knowledge of German OR English. Arabic is an advantage.

- Willingness to travel within Jordan, the region, to Germany, and potentially to other countries
WHAT WE OFFER
- The salary is based on the current remuneration scheme at the Goethe-Institut Jordan and is categorised in remuneration group B1. If the required qualifications and experience are not fully available, the remuneration group and the job profile can be adjusted accordingly.
