PROJECT COORDINATOR IN THE FIELD OF INFORMATION AND LIBRARY

We are looking for a dedicated colleague for the period from 1 August 2024 to 31 December 2024, to work in the “Information and Library” department with a focus on “Third Spaces” project management and library-related programme work.

The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, active worldwide. It promotes knowledge of the German language abroad, fosters international cultural cooperation, and conveys an authentic image of Germany. The Goethe-Institut Jordan, together with the German Jordanian University (GJU), operates a third space, called “Dialogpunkt / German Lounge”, at the SABE campus in Jabal Amman. We are seeking support to coordinate activities for the space and enhance its promotion.

Main responsibilities:

  • Coordination of the “Dialogpunkt" project and monitoring of project progress in close coordination with the Head of Information & Library
  • Planning and implementation of target group-oriented events and activities (e.g., workshops, film series, exhibitions) at the Dialogpunkt on diverse topics and formats (e.g. Library of Things, Virtual Reality, German language)
  • Support with public relations for the Dialogpunkt, especially by creating social media content about the space and related activities
  • Performing service tasks (approx. one day per week): lending service of the "Library of Things" as well as providing information and assistance to visitors
  • Assisting with administration, controlling, and documentation of the project
  • Conducting research tasks
  • Assisting in the preparation and implementation of other projects in the field of Information & Library
Requirements:
  • Completed degree (at least a Bachelor's degree) and relevant professional experience
  • Proven experience in project management, preferably in event management
  • Experience in public relations and social media is an advantage
  • Motivation to create and take initiative
  • Intercultural competence and communication skills
  • Willingness to familiarise oneself with the library lending software
  • Very good knowledge of Arabic, good knowledge of English – both written and spoken. Knowledge of German is an advantage
  • Teamwork ability and willingness to work independently
