Work in Progress - an evening with film and music

Goethe-Institut Villa Kamogawa, Hall

The insight into the artistic creation in the "work in progress" stage creates a bridge between the artists and the audience, where a direct encounter between the creators, the artwork and the viewers is made possible. "Jibun no ichibu" (A part of myself) stands for the presentation of filmic works that have not yet been filtered and finalized; it stands for a creative process characterized by intuition and spontaneity.  The residents of Villa Kamogawa invite you to an experimental evening of film and music.

Program:

Filmmaker Eliza Petkova presents a 20-minute excerpt from her essay film, which she shot during her residency in Japan, accompanied by musician Shingo Masuda.

The filmmaker Zora Rux will show a 20-minute "work in progress" excerpt from a live film. She will combine the video footage she shot during her residency in Japan with experimental light and texture impressions created manually using an overhead projector. Together with the musician Yoshiki Kato, an image and sound improvisation is created in which music and image influence each other.

This will be followed by a joint concert by the two musicians Yoshiki Kato (Oud) and Shingo Masuda (Kanun) with their own compositions and free improvisation.

Performers:
Eliza Petkova (filmmaker) *Fellow of Villa Kamogawa
Zora Rux (filmmaker) *Fellow of Villa Kamogawa
Shingo Masuda (musician, Kanun)
Yoshiki Kato (musician, Oud)
