The Goethe-Institut e. V. is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global presence. Our mission is to promote German language learning abroad, foster international cultural cooperation, and present an authentic image of Germany by sharing insights into its cultural, societal, and political life.
STUDIENBRÜCKE
The Studienbrücke programme is a pre-university bridging initiative based at the Goethe-Institut. It is designed for high school students and school-leavers with strong academic performance in STEM subjects (such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science) or business studies, combined with a high proficiency in German. The programme provides participants with language and academic training in their home countries, preparing them for university studies in Germany while introducing them to the country’s teaching and learning culture.
We are seeking an Office Assistant to support the implementation and promotion of this new programme.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the planning of Studienbrücke activities in collaboration with the Programme Coordinator and the Head of School Sector at Goethe-Institut Nairobi
- Coordinate logistical aspects of the Studienbrücke activities
- Manage communications with schoolteachers involved in the programme
- Prepare documents and materials for panel interviews
- Take minutes and notes during programme meetings
- Oversee security arrangements and manage the distribution of materials
- Respond to inquiries via email and phone regarding the Studienbrücke programme
- Assist with follow-up tasks after institutional visits (post-processing)
- Handle additional tasks related to the programme as they arise
- Proficiency in both German and English
- Strong organizational skills
- Familiarity with the network of German teachers in Kenya
- Affinity for the internet, culture, and arts (interest in cultural exchange, languages, etc.)
- Proactive and self-driven; able to work independently
- Excellent intercultural communication skills, motivation, and creativity
- Ability to work in a team, demonstrate initiative, resilience, and flexibility
- The contractor is responsible for personally carrying out the commissioned service.
- The contractor works on an hourly basis.
- The weekly time commitment is up to 15 hours, with a rate of 500 KES per hour.
- The advertised job is on contractual basis
