Curator for Final Exhibition of the Interdisciplinary Art Residency Program – Round 1
The Goethe-Institut - Ramallah, funded by the EU, is seeking curators to oversee the final exhibition for the residency program within the Mishkal project, showcasing works by 15 to 20 emerging Palestinian artists in audio and visual arts, focusing on themes of Palestinian cultural heritage.
We are looking for a curator with deep knowledge of the Palestinian cultural context to bring together the diverse works of the residency into a unified, engaging exhibition. This exhibition will showcase the residency outcomes and foster cultural exchange, creating meaningful connections between local and international audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curate the Final Exhibition: Develop a cohesive exhibition that integrates the residency projects into a compelling narrative, focusing on Palestinian cultural heritage and fostering international collaboration.
- Exhibition Design and Coordination: Oversee the design, layout, and installation of the exhibition, ensuring that the works are displayed effectively and engagingly.
- Collaboration with Artists: Work closely with the artists to help shape the presentation of their work, ensuring it aligns with the overall exhibition theme.
- Community Engagement: Facilitate workshops, seminars, and dialogues with local communities to enhance public understanding and participation in the exhibition.
- Logistics and Technical Oversight: Manage the technical aspects of the exhibition, including the installation of artworks, audio-visual equipment, and overall exhibition setup.
- Promote the Event: Collaborate with the project team to promote the exhibition and related public events to maximize visibility and audience engagement.
- Experience in Palestinian Cultural Context: The curator should have experience and knowledge of the social, cultural, and historical aspects of Palestinian society.
- Curatorial Experience: Proven experience in curating interdisciplinary art exhibitions, especially in audio and visual arts, is essential.
- Community Engagement: Experience facilitating public programs that engage and educate local communities about cultural heritage and artistic practices.
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage exhibition logistics and work collaboratively with a diverse team of artists and stakeholders.
- Residency in Palestine: The curator must be a Palestinian resident with a strong understanding of the local cultural context, Palestinian heritage, and artistic practices.
- Exhibition Date: The exhibition will take place in April 2025.
- Curatorial Engagement: The curator will be contracted from February 2025 through to the completion of the exhibition in April 2025.
