Digital Children's University

The German Digital Children's University (KINDERUNI) is a free educational project of the Goethe-Institut for children aged 8 to 12. It offers the opportunity to learn about different areas of knowledge in the three faculties "Humans", "Nature" and "Technology" in 30 short lectures and to introduce children to the German language in a playful way.

At Home

Every child can get involved with the Kinderuni at home. Our online platform is freely accessible without charge to all children. Each short lecture is 6 to 10 minutes long and the children learn ten German words. This is accompanied by a word list and three online tasks. If the tasks are solved successfully, the children receive awards ("badges").

Parents can support their children and follow their learning progress through the parent's access.

ONLINE-PLATTFORM

All 30 lectures are available free of charge, and at any time on our educational platform.

In School

Didactic materials are available for teachers who would like to work with the Kinderuni either inside or outside the classroom. This includes teaching outlines, worksheets, and the subtitles to the video lectures.

DIDACTIC MATERIALS

The Kinderuni can be used in the classroom in different contexts and areas of application. We have developed didactic materials for German teachers to accompany each Kinderuni lecture.

CLIL

Foreign language + subject matter teaching = CLIL (Content and language integrated learning), one of the leading methods of modern foreign-language instruction. Individual lectures will be integrable into the CLIL instruction method as supplemental material.

Access for teachers

Create a teacher account in order to download didactic materials and track your students' progress.
