The author El-Hadi Ali Radi won the Al Tayeb Saleh Prize in Sudan in 2018 for his book Fareeg Alnazir. He would like to reach a larger readership and publish a second edition of his socially critical book, which also focuses on economic issues.

Recently, Sudan not only had to negotiate political conflicts: The country is shaped by social norms and traditions to which many young people are often exposed. El-Hadi Ali Radi takes up this conflict in his book and particularly addresses the gap between urban and rural areas. The novel is about a young Sudanese man who lived his life in the big city of Khartoum. He ends up back in his home village where he sees widespread values and traditions that no longer correspond to his own. This confrontation creates a dichotomy in him, which is intensified by the poor economic situation in the rural region. The protagonist begins a search for his own convictions, regardless of external influences.

“The production fund was designated to print the book and it was a great opportunity to promote the project. Now I plan to translate the novel into several languages as I’m trying to turn it into a film,” El-Hadi Ali Radi explains his plans for the production fund. The author emphasises how much the experience of the Transforming Sudan project has encouraged his creative and artistic work.
