The Goethe-Institut Thailand invites dancers, performance artists, actors, and other performers to join an intense 3-day workshop with Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola.
Each day of the workshop will be divided in two parts. For the first half, we focus on technique: the elements of bodyweight, momentum and speed, efficiency and economy of effort are approached through exercises that propose a very close relationship to the floor, as well as an understanding of the body’s anatomy and of the physical forces that create, influence, and manipulate the body’s motion. The class is structured in exercises that develop in technical difficulty (body coordination, spatial awareness).
The second half is invested in creating, analyzing, and choreographing physical material. The meaning of movement is questioned.Improvisation is used to expand the choreographic repertoire and language, to fully grow into the body’s potential as an instrument and a tool of expression.
The work will be individual, in pairs, and as a group.
