Panel: Navigating the Cultured Gender Map

Time: 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Location: Goethe-Institut Taipei Event Room, 12F

Gender is a construct, and so is sexuality. They are constructed in actual space and time across our shared and specific history and culture. In “Navigating the Cultured Gender Map”, three game practitioners from a variety of geocultural locations and disciplines will walk us through the gendered geography upon which they learn and make games, showcasing how gender matters, but matters differently, in cultural, cross-cultural, and cross-discipline game making.

Panel: Gear Up - Tools for Care and Sustainability

Time: 3:45 pm - 5:15 pm
Location: Goethe-Institut Taipei Event Room, 12F

Change needs to happen within the system and ourselves. The game scene is notorious for sexism as well as labor exploitation. In “Gear Up - Tools for Care and Sustainability”, we have artists, activists and organizers discuss the topic of care and sustainability on individual, collective and corporate levels and to recommend tools and strategies to practice self care while engendering systematic change.

Panel: The Inclusion Quest - The Other Protagonists

Time: 5:30 pm - 6:45 pm
Location: Goethe-Institut Taipei Event Room, 12F

While we are expending effort to make female protagonists more pronounced in and outside of games, we might be marginalizing other communities and groups. In the last session “The Inclusion Quest - The Other Protagonists”, we have the opportunity to listen to the talk among Kaelen, NPCKC and Tida, three pioneers of making and promoting transgender and nonbinary game making.
