Fostering culture in the Eastern Partnership countries Сall for cultural and cross-innovation projects
The 20 EU-funded Cultural and Cross-Innovation projects delve into several directions within the creative sectors. Some are oriented toward performing arts, while others focus on multimedia content development, city branding, and architecture, among other fields. They are being implemented in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine.
The Following projects were supported in Ukraine:
Friends of Museum Charity Fund Odesa, November 2023 – May 2024
The exhibition project Heating Season by Odesa-based artist Vasyl Dmytryk will be implemented by the Charitable Foundation “Friends of the Museum”. The team has created unique equipment for this dynamic exhibition. The electromagnet “tracegraph” will drive a mass of rusty objects against the surface, leaving mechanical traces on the paper. The fading traces symbolise the fading energy of Ukrainian society amidst the war. The first place to host the exhibition will be the “Asortymentna Kimnata” Gallery in Ivano-Frankivsk. Later, it will be moved to the Odesa National Fine Arts Museum.
History Reconstruction Club Ostvytsya Rivne, March – July 2024
The Ostvytsya park is an historical and cultural project located in the city of Rivne, which recreates the atmosphere of the 9–12th century Rus through historical reconstruction and experimental archaeology. The location regularly hosts workshops on ancient crafts, cultural and educational events, boat rides on ancient vessels, and more. As part of the EU-funded project, the implementers will develop a quest immersing the participants in the life of Ancient Rus using the park's structures and boats. The interactive experience will provide interested individuals with insights into the local history, culture, archaeology, and reconstruction techniques.
NGO “Ukrainian Marketing Assosiation” Rivne, February – May 2024
The EU-funded festival will showcase Ukrainian and foreign feature, documentary, full-length, and short films. During the event, the project implementers will hold a competition titled Wounded Earth for short documentaries about the environmental damage caused by war. Additionally, experts in ecology and cinema will engage in a roundtable discussion about collectively restoring the environment affected by the war. During the festival, a non-competitive screening of films about artificial intelligence and a round table of experts and filmmakers on the prospects of using Artificial Intelligence in the film industry are planned.
Art Association Plai Vinnytsia, January – June 2024
The project revolves around a series of professional residencies that will gather representatives of Vinnytsia’s public institutions with regional and local specialists from the creative sectors such as urbanism, landscape design and ecology, architecture, and revitalization. The EU-funded initiative aims to stimulate cross-sectoral interaction at the local level, research and develop a model for local urban space revitalization, namely a former children's sanatorium, which is also highlighted in the city’s Cultural Development Strategy as a potential cultural venue.
