Built to change: This is the attitude of the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). Since 1965 it has been the driving force behind the change from a mining area to a knowledge region. Its 21 faculties are home to over 6,000 employees and almost 40,000 students. All major scientific disciplines are united on one compact campus. RUB's excellent teaching and research have made a name for themselves internationally. Over 180 degree programs in the humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, engineering and medicine offer a wide range of combination options. RUB attracts people from 130 countries: around 6,500 international students, around 750 international doctoral students and several hundred international scientists. There are also around 600 exchange students who come to Bochum every year or go abroad for a while.
