DESCRIPTION
Astrid Mayer is a journalist and author of the book "les écoquartiers de Fribourg". She is director of Freiburg Future Lab, an agency that organizes study tours about sustainable development of the city. Freiburg Future Lab is a partner agency of the "Green City" office of the city of Freiburg. She thinks that making cities more sustainable would also make them more attractive and healthy.
Astrid's tour of Freiburg will begin with an overview of Freiburg's climate policy as well as the city's ecological "hotspots". Of course the famous Vauban district will be discussed, including tales from local residents. Additional topics of discussion will include the energy efficiency of building, adaptation to climate change, such as rainwater management, unsealing of soils, green roofs, etc. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of densification will be discussed before allowing questions from the audience.
