Educational Training Series: Do Something!

In an increasingly polarized society, misinformation and discrimination, amongst other social issues, often obscure the public’s ability to agree on a united path forward. Therefore, the need for community and political engagement is more urgent than ever.

To equip German language teachers for this challenge and actively engage students, we have created a specialized educational training series. This program is designed to empower educators to seamlessly incorporate a wide range of societal and political topics into their lessons, motivating students to become active participants in their communities and civic life.

This dynamic training series, available in both online and in-person formats, focuses on weaving community and political engagement themes into the curriculum. Given the complexity and significance of these topics, we will feature renowned experts from a variety of fields who will share their insights and provide practical guidance to both teachers and students of German. This series will offer strategies for effective lesson planning and facilitating inclusive, empathetic discussions in the classroom. Moreover, we will provide comprehensive teaching materials to support educators and students in bringing these crucial conversations into their everyday lives, thereby fostering a more connected and politically active community.

Join us in this vital initiative to create a more engaged and informed society. This series is currently under development, with future training opportunities covering a range of community and political engagement topics to be announced soon. Please monitor this website for the latest updates.
