How to Know what to know @GAPP

Media Literacy for Youth

This event is part of the Kant student essay competition and is presented in collaboration between the Goethe-Institut New York and the German American Partnership Program (GAPP).

In our era of information overload, mediated by algorithmic echo chambers and fake news, knowing what is credible and valuable has become increasingly challenging. How to navigate this complex landscape as a young person? How to identify credible sources? How to differentiate between fact and opinion? Furthermore, how does acquiring proficiency in world languages and gaining cultural competence, particularly in German, enhance media literacy skills? Finally, how can you prepare for a career in international journalism and strategically apply knowledge for the broader public good?
