In October 2018 the Goethe Institut Los Angeles presented FROM GERMANY TO LA, a celebration of electronic sounds and visuals, by a diverse lineup of DJs and performers from Germany and Los Angeles.

FROM GERMANY TO LA presented a celebration of electronic sounds and visuals, delivered by a diverse lineup of DJs and performers from Germany and Los Angeles on Friday, October 5th 2018 at The Echo + Echoplex, and Saturday, October 6th at The Globe Theatre.
 
Part of the opening week for a year-long series of events with the Year of German-American Friendship 2018/19 - Deutschlandjahr 2018/19, FROM GERMANY TO LA brought together eclectic communities from both sides of the pond for two nights of cultural discovery and experience, two nights of house music, techno, and electronica, skillfully combined with contemporary visual art.
Visual enhancement came from Cloaking, presenting 3D mapping and lighting, plus projections by Lisa Wassmann and Valquire Veljkovic
Festival artwork was designed by illustrator Opashona Ghosh (Kolkata/London/Berlin) and Tom Singier (Paris/Berlin), founder of Serigraffeur Galerie.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5th:
Friday night at the The Echo + Echoplex offered a taste of Berlin’s techno scene with DJ sets from the iconic DJ Hell and Alan Oldham, plus a live modular synth performance from Lady Starlight. The evening continued with a trip into house-music history with the Reclaim the Beats stage, featuring sets by Tyree CooperEric D. ClarkWhitney DayStacy Christine, and a live set from Sky Deep.
 
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6th:
On Saturday at The Globe Theatre, The FROM BERLIN TO LA floor featured sets from Nine Inch NilinaAnna Cavazos, and Vulinej collaborating live with Byrke Lou. The upper stage hosted Kim AnhTensnakeMouse on Mars live, and audience favorite DJ Koze.
