The Goethe-Institut is the globally-active cultural institution of the Federal Republic of Germany, with a global reach. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation. The Goethe-Institut Washington D.C. is looking for a cultural programs curator to
begin work on September 1st, 2024.
Responsibilities:
Conception, realization, and evaluation of cultural programs at the Goethe-Institut Washington D.C. (for example, in the areas of visual art, architecture and design, music, theatre and dance, film)
Assistance in the coordination of regional projects in North America
Maintaining contact and networking with partner institutions in the USA
Administrative tasks, finance management, and budget planning
Assist with other tasks as necessary for the Program Department
Requirements:
University degree - for example, in the humanities or cultural management
Great interest in and very good knowledge of art, culture, and society
Knowledge of German and American cultural scenes
Strong organizational skills and event management experience
Willingness to work on evenings and weekends
Willingness to travel on official business
Knowledge of both spoken and written German and English
Capability to work in a team
The Goethe-Institut offers a competitive benefits package, including health insurance and short-term disability insurance (for employees working at least 30 hours per week). After 6 months of employment, all employees are eligible to contribute to a 401(K) plan with up to a 4.5% employer match. This position offers a hybrid work model allowing remote work for up to two days per week, pending supervisor approval.

Salary Range: $69,360 - $73,584
