Historical drama about an Armenian father who is forcibly separated from his family. After years in captivity, he starts a journey around the world to find his daughters.
1915: One night, Turkish soldiers arrest all Armenian men in the village of Mardin – including the young blacksmith Nazaret. He is separated from his family and deported to the desert. After years of forced labour, he can only escape death by chance – and with his vocal cords cut. Nazaret realises that he has lost everything: his home, his family, his voice. When he learns that his two daughters are still alive, he embarks on a desperate journey to find them. Their traces lead him all the way through the Syrian desert, over the Atlantic Ocean, to Cuba, and eventually to North America.
