From Germany: Four new translations. Readings, presentations and discussions.
The 8th European Literature Days will be held in Hanoi and for the third in Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon. The vivid literature festival with contributions from six European countries will be full of activities for book lovers of any age including book presentations, readings, workshops, talks, exhibitions and films.
Since 2011, the annual European Literature Days have been organized by EUNIC, the association of European Cultural Institutes and Embassies. The expansion to HCMC is a clear sign of growing interest in European literature. There are books for all tastes and interests - from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Spain and Sweden.
The Literature Days will be opened on May 5 by the participating countries at the European Village by Hoan Kiem Lake.
Book presentations from German will be at the Goethe-Institut. Author Eugen Ruge and his translator will present ”In Zeiten des abnehmenden Lichts“. The film for the book will be shown a day later (Premiere in Vietnam). Other presentation includes 10 issues of the book serie „WAS IST WAS“; a new edition of “The Tin Drum” by Günter Grass and the children book “Snöfrid aus dem Wiesental- Die ganz und gar unglaubliche Rettung von Nordland” by Andreas H. Schmachtl. The program finishes with: “Kafka goes to the cinema.”
The events about German literature in Hanoi will be held at the Goethe-Institut.
