Sivuyisiwe Giba
Sivuyisiwe Giba –is the co-founder and director of SivuBuhle Media, a documentary and multimedia production company based in the Eastern Cape. SivuBuhle Media is currently in post-production for a documentary called “uHADI” , which is a traditional, indigenous musical bow instrument documentary. The documentary received funding from ECPACC and NFVF and Sivuyisiwe Giba is the director and producer of the feature length documentary. Sivu comes with a variety of film experiences spanning over 12 years from working as an AD in various feature films e.g. Mad Max , Black Sails and Dominion and also as a Local cast and extra’s co-ordinator for feature film “KaalKagat Karel” due to screen at the cinemas on the 23rd of September 2021- to documentary series as a production developer for – “Siyaya Come Wild With Us” which is airing on SABC Mindset Channel DSTV.
Sivuyisiwe’s passion is mostly on documentary filmmaking, where she had her formal film training from Big Fish School of Digital Filmmaking specialising in producing and directing as well as editing. She won Best Documentary Class of 2013 at the Cape Winelands International Film Festival. Her Documentary Film, where she was an Assistant director, “Xoma Aob – Son of The Soil” got an official selection at the Gauteng Film Commission “Woman Online Film Festival 2020”, which was a SivuBuhle Media production with STEPS FOR THE FUTURE and CARETAKERS.
She is also a Film business developer who is passionate about provincial film development and with her Degree of Entrepreneurship and New Venture creation from WITS Business School, she is able to see business opportunities through film tourism, co-productions and development- where SivuBuhle Media added a FILM FIXING services into the company and the company directors have worked with T & W Productions to produce the SuperSport School- Lukhanyo AM advert doci under the Super Sport school Doci series. Sivuyisiwe is a second time board Member for the Documentary Filmmakers Association- South Africa (DFA) as well as a Board Member for Sunshine Cinema. Sivu is passionate about indigenous stories and that is what she mainly produces and directs especially authentic rural stories where the heart of the community is.
