Business: The Menstrual Project
Shari Maluleke

Shari Maluleke Thabang Radebe © Goethe-Institut The Menstrual Project is a community-based non-profit organisation that works towards opening dialogue about menstruation and other ovarian health-related issues. In an effort to cultivate deeper understanding, explore and articulate health-related issues and bodily autonomy, we focus especially on marginalised communities.

We believe that this form of community dialogue and education is critical for the facilitation of spaces where menstruators can reclaim and transform their power in a proactive manner. We also believe that this speaks directly to issues concerning human rights and access to sustain care.

As an organization, we are dedicated to shifting ideologies concerning menstrual health and contributing to the global movement that is fighting for the eradication of period poverty. We advocate for easily accessible, free (and/or untaxed) and eco-sustainable items for all, through workshops, fundraisers, a podcast, infographics, as well as other educational tools.
