Mpmzeni Gwazela
Mpmzeni Gwazela is a visual art graduate who holds the following qualifications; Fine Arts Certificate at Oxford College in East London, National Diploma from Walter Sisulu University in East London and a B. Tech Degree from Nelson Mandela University in Qeberha.

Gwazela has been an active artist participant in a number of Public Art projects since 2009, which includes the MBDA Route 67 Project. He was commissioned, based on the quality of his prior artistic productions, to make a major sculptural frieze entitled ‘ Wall of Texts’ and this can be seen opposite the 1820 Settler Campanile in Qeberha.

Over the years, Gwazela has successfully managed to balance his studies and work while he was also succeeding in life. He has worked for a number of local and international-based NGO’ s as an art teacher and coordinator. In 2012 he was invited to Chicago, USA to represent South African Art and in 2013 had a 45 min documentary with the national television (SABC 1).

He has worked with a number of art entities around the Eastern Cape, as a workshop facilitator, art consultant, art trainer and coordinator. In 2016 with the assistance of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and the Nelson Mandela Bay Art Council, he founded a beginners Training programme called: The Sketch Book Project.

Having recently relocated back to his birthplace, Mthatha, Gwazela wants to share his experience and contribute in the development of the Visual Art sector in the region. His diligence and experience have enabled him to establish himself and grow from strength to strength as an independent Creative Entrepreneur.
