Project Assistant on freelance basis for the Cultural Programmes department
The Goethe-Institut Johannesburg is looking for a project assistant with focus on administrative tasks for the preparation of four EU projects. The contract will run from 25th November until 31st December 2024. The contract is based on an hourly fee of 250 ZAR/hour with a maximum of 90 working hours.
The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation. We convey a comprehensive picture of Germany by providing information on Germany's cultural, social and political life. The Goethe-Institut in Johannesburg regulates the work in the Sub-Saharan countries. Its activities in this region have a special focus on strengthening the pan-African as well as African-European dialogue, and on promoting mobile access to information and education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handling administrative procedures for the cultural programmes department. This includes but is not limited to: procuring service providers according to Goethe-Institut guidelines (Tendering & Documentation), preparing contracts, preparing documents for financial processing (e.g. check invoices, for correctness), preparing the onboarding process of the admin team
- Experience in administration, procurement processes and finances especially of cultural projects of the Goethe-Institut
- Cultural project management or general project management degree OR Minimum of four (4) years relevant working experience
- Experience working on large-scale cultural programmes, preferably EU-projects
- Highly proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent written skills in English are necessary, being able to understand and speak German is a major advantage
- Strong, coordination, and organizational skills
- Flawless attention to detail
- Non-South African applicants need to have a valid work permit for South Africa
