The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation. We convey a comprehensive picture of Germany by providing information on Germany's cultural, social and political life. The Goethe-Institut in Johannesburg regulates the work in the Sub-Saharan countries. Its activities in this region have a special focus on strengthening the pan-African as well as African-European dialogue, and on promoting mobile access to information and education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing the inception and implementation of EU projects for Sub-Sahara Africa
  • Drafting the inception phase for the roll-out of four large EU-projects in Sub-Sahara Africa
  • Designing onboarding and kick-off workshops of the project teams
  • Setting up managerial and technical support for all teams
  • Planning of coordination, execution and supervision of activities, budget and project output

Requirements

  • Cultural project management or general project management degree OR Minimum of four (4) years relevant working experience
  • Experience implementing large-scale cultural programmes, preferably EU-projects
  • Experience leading large international teams
  • Experience designing implementation and communication processes
  • Highly proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written skills in English are necessary, being able to understand and speak German and French is a major advantage
  • Strong, coordination, and organizational skills
  • Flawless attention to detail
  • Non-South African applicants need to have a valid work permit for South Africa
