Project Assistant on freelance basis for the Cultural Programmes department at the Goethe-Institut South Africa

The Goethe-Institut Johannesburg is looking for a project assistant with focus on administrative tasks for the Cultural Programmes Department. The contract will run from 26th August 2024 and is limited to one year. The contract is based on an hourly fee with a maximum of 60 working hours per month.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • handling administrative procedures for the cultural programmes department. This includes but is not limited to: procuring service providers according to Goethe-Institut guidelines (Tendering & Documentation), preparing contracts, preparing documents for financial processing (e.g. check invoices, for correctness)
  • assist the core team in other tasks related to administration of projects, e.g. travel arrangements

Requirements

  • Experience in administration, procurement processes and finances especially of cultural projects of the Goethe-Institut
  • Cultural project management or general project management degree OR Minimum of four (4) years relevant working experience
  • Experience working on large-scale cultural programmes,
  • Highly proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written skills in English are necessary, being able to understand and speak German is a major advantage
  • Strong, coordination, and organizational skills
  • Flawless attention to detail
  • Non-South African applicants need to have a valid work permit for South Africa
