Digitalization. The two-day AFRICOMICS workshop in Windhoek, Namibia put a special focus on digital illustration. The workshop with 21 participants, which took place at the Goethe-Institut in Windhoek, was led by illustrator and graphic designer Nkosingiphile Mazibuko. The workshop focused on learning and applying software techniques such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

In addition, a mini-workshop for children and young people aged 10-14 was held on 01.02.2022. With 12 participants, the workshop focused on creative drawing without fear of doing something wrong and surprising motives.

Bild Nkosingiphile Mazibuko © Nkosingiphile Mazibuko Nkosingiphile Mazibuko or Mazi for short as he is known, was born in 1992 and raised by his art-loving mother. He grew up in Soweto, Johannesburg, a city with a rich artistic and cultural presence, and recalls being constantly involved with art. He graduated in Fine Arts from Walter Sisulu University in the Eastern Cape in 2015. He has design experience at Umuzi Academy and Egoli Textile Designs, and is also a graduate of Friends of Design, Cape Town. He has worked on one of the country's most popular pan-African football comics, Super Strikas, Kwezi, and other comics. His work is also featured in an award-winning book by the Childhood Development Book Dash organisation, as well as a number of other children's books. He was a top three finalist in the Eastern Cape Arts and Culture Awards for Best 2D Visual Art 2019/2020, and his work was awarded second prize for Best Book Cover by SAMA's Iziko Museums publications New Insights. He is the founder of the Mazi Art and Design Creative School project, which is dedicated to sharing skills and empowering children from townships and villages.
