Annotation:
Next to the car, the bicycle is the most widespread means of transport on earth. There are an estimated one billion of both. However, the bicycle has one advantage: it is more affordable and more environmentally friendly than cars. And what about the joy of cycling? Would you choose the handlebars or the steering wheel? In the former Czechoslovakia and the German democratic republic, there were times when the choice was out of the question: there were not enough bicycles nor cars.

Czechoslovak bicycles were mainly exported to the West, while in Czechoslovakia itself, new bicycles were rare and available only to the few lucky ones, who could afford them. The bicycle even became a tool of political propaganda through the International peace race.
