BAU! SCHULE
Bau!Schule is a digital browser game for students aged 12 to 16. It is a game about the modern school based on research about the school of the future, the latest architectural practices and methodological recommendations from experts and teachers.
IMPROVING THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT
During the game, students* take on the role of a tenth grader who helps fellow students, faculty, school administrators, a janitor, and even neighborhood residents manage their daily concerns by transforming the space around them. Each of the episodes focuses on a different place that the game player must change, using both everyday and technologically advanced solutions.
SENSE OF BELONGING TO ONE'S SCHOOL
By taking on the role of young people who make decisions that impact not only the space but also the lives of others, students* participation in school life is strengthened, which has a positive impact on their own motivation to learn and their sense of responsibility for their education.
USE IN CLASS
Students* play through the game independently. For an overarching approach to developing co-creation and engaging students in the development of the social environment, Goethe-Institut methodologists have developed teacher guides for teaching German and conducting an interdisciplinary project based on the game, which are available for download.
