Jörg and Duncan allow us to witness their delights, frustrations and misunderstandings as they discover the characteristics and idiosyncrasies of each other’s cultures.
One of our most popular projects is the animated comic series "Lifeswap" by graphic designer Steffen Kreft and writer William Connor about Duncan from New Zealand and Jörg from Germany. The two move to each other's country for a year and share their experiences and pitfalls in monthly Skype conversations.
"Lifeswap" is also being used successfully in German classes. Students effortlessly put themselves in Jörg and Duncan's shoes and deal with the cultural differences that the series lovingly and vividly illuminates.
To make the series even more accessible, artist William Connor has put together teaching materials for the first ten episodes. There is a teacher's document and a student's document for each episode. The materials are currently available as Word documents to allow for teacher customization.
Find the videos and more information here.
Integrate the "Lifeswap" materials into your lessons in a playful way and let us know how the materials are received in your class. Write to deutschstunde@goethe.de.
