Who hasn't wanted to turn back time at some point in order to make different decisions or even take completely new paths in life? In the film Cleo, this opportunity is offered to the young protagonist of the same name, but in the end she has to ask herself whether the price might be too high.
The Film Cleo is also a good introduction to the history of Berlin. Cleo meets the adventurer Paul and together they embark on an exciting trip through the pulsating big city, where Cleo meets crazy people and urban legends, and also gets closer to Paul. The city of Berlin plays just as big a role as the main characters and acts more or less as a figure that drives the plot forward. For this reason, further material on the topic of Berlin is included at the end of thie teaching material, which can be used even without the film.
Although the film has an age rating of 6 years in Germany, it is advisable to use it only at higher grade levels, since the pace of speech of the characters in the film is sometimes very fast and occasionally also dialectically colored. For weaker learners, subtitles may be recommended. Furthermore, the themes may be too demanding for younger learners (death of parents, self-reproach, depression, isolation, loneliness). For young adults, on the other hand, they offer a fertile ground for discussion and can easily be explored in greater depth. The notes for teachers are printed in italics and are located in front of the individual tasks.
