In this material, there are five different dialogues between young people that revolve around the Christmas season:
Dialogue 1: In the schoolyard
Dialogue 2: After sports lessons
Dialogue 3: During the break
Dialogue 4: On the school bus
Dialogue 5: In the supermarket
There are eight different activities:
Activity 1: Learners match pictures to the dialogues.
Activity 2: The learners fill in the gaps in the dialogues with the appropriate nouns, verbs and, adjectives.
Activity 3: The learners organize the dialogues on a worksheet and/or as a puzzle.
Activity 4: The learners read and/or act out the dialogues aloud.
Activity 5: The learners write the dialogues or dictate them to each other. The teaching idea of a running or surreptitious dictation is suggested here.
Activity 6: The learners formulate W or yes/no questions to match the dialogues.
Activity 7: The learners research aspects of the country that the young people talk about in the dialogues. They use the information they have researched to create a presentation.
Activity 8: The learners write their own dialogues based on the five examples. These are then read or acted out.
The learners can complete all activities or they can be offered as a learning buffet or station work. The tasks can be completed in plenary, in a group, in partner or group work.
