SOLAR ENERGY IN BURKINA FASO

Burkina Faso is currently considering building the largest solar power plant in West Africa to improve its electricity supply. With more than 3000 hours of sunshine per year, the country is one of the hottest on the African continent, making solar energy a promising renewable resource. However, so far, only 20% of Burkina Faso's 18 million inhabitants are connected to the electricity grid. The Enter Africa team in Ouagadougou wants to take up this challenge: it is convinced that change must go hand in hand with the country's traditions and values. How can roots be respected in the face of globalization?

RIWEN AGAINST SONAMOS

The main character of "Sankofa" is the young Prince Riwen, who returns to Burkina Faso after ten years of study and work abroad, where he has acquired knowledge of different technologies. Back in Burkina Faso, he notes that the country is not fully exploiting its energy potential, as evil forces are trying to slow down the development process. Thanks to Riwen's hacking skills, he was able to identify the sinister responsible for this situation which is called SonamOS. However, despite his knowledge of technology, Riwen understands the need to go back to his roots and relearn the values and traditions he has lost over the years. The control towers we need to activate to fight SonamOS are located at historic sites in the city. Therefore, with Riwen, we will travel through the city of Ouagadougou and visit, for example, the Royal Palace.

THE CHARACTERS

Riwen is not alone in this mission. Garango, the driver he met at the beginning of the story becomes the hero's right-hand man, protecting Riwen from danger and guiding him throughout the game. In addition, there is Kouka, an old man who represents wisdom and gives us clues from time to time. Another character is Agent X, a warrior princess of the Mossi ethnic group, who represents the fighter and provides us with important information.

Why should I play the Game?

Playing “Sankofa”, we do not only learn about the current energy challenges of Burkina Faso but also about its cultural roots and historical places. The game brings together the need for change and innovation with the respect for values and traditions and it brings us closer to the heart of Ouagadougou.
