Programme 2024
We have organized a variety of activities in 2024 for you to enjoy the linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe.
You can take our online language quiz (open until October 6) and, with a little bit of luck, win a bag of gifts from our partners.
On 26 September, Library of Languages invites you to a language festival organized at Kampus Hybernská to mark the European Day of Languages. Come to Hybernská 4 (Prague 1) between 9:00 and 22:00 and choose from an offer of language-themed lectures, workshops and readings. You can also try an escape game, visit an exhibition or form a team and try your luck at our language themed pub quiz. The festival’s full programme is available here.
From 15:00 to 18:00 on 26 September, Kampus Hybernská will also host the popular speak-dating event.
Not from Prague? There may be events also in your area. There are speak dating events planned for the afternoon of September 26 in Brno and Olomouc. More events for pupils and students of primary and secondary schools are planned in České Budějovice, Klatovy, Kroměříž, and Pardubice the information centres of the Europe Direct network.
For events across Europe, check the website of the European Centre for Modern Languages and the website of the European Commission.
We look forward to seeing you at the European Day of Languages 2024!

What is speak-dating?
Speak dating is a session of brief introductions to foreign languages. It consists of short (5–10 minutes) language “lessons” in a language of your choice (mostly with a native speaker). The teachers are able to adapt to your level. You can practice your existing language skills or try out a new foreign language. This year, nearly 30 languages will be on offer.
In Kampus Hybernská, all you need to do is come on Thursday, 26 September, between 15:00 and 18:00 to Hybernská 4 in Prague. Here, after registering, you pick one of the languages on offer and sit down for a lesson. If you try at least three languages and have a little bit of luck, you can win one of the prizes (such as a language course) in our raffle.
If you plan to come with a larger group, please let us know in advance at dgt-prague@ec.europa.eu.
The choice of available languages in Kampus Hybernská can change until the last minute. We recommend you follow our Facebook event where updates will be published continuously.
The following languages will be available this year (subject to change):
Bulgarian, Catalan, Czech, Croatian, Danish, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Luxembourgish, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovenian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish and Czech sign language.
