André Lavoie holds a master's degree in film studies from the Université de Montréal. He has been a contributor to Le Devoir newspaper since 1998, writes for various magazines (Québec Science), and participates in a number of programs on Ici Radio-Canada Première, in addition to having hosted introductory film workshops. Since 2001, he has devoted himself mainly to his work as a journalist, film critic and lecturer. In 2021, along with other journalist colleagues, he co-founded the Centre québécois d'éducation aux médias et à l'information (CQÉMI), an organization dedicated to raising public awareness of the dangers of fake news and the importance of journalistic work in a democratic society.
