Discussion about Nicolette Krebitz's awardwinning film

KINO! Film Salon is a monthly online club to discuss films from Germany.

How it works: Each month we choose a German film or series currently available to stream on U.S. platforms, watch it independently, and come together for a hosted conversation with other fans of German film.
Register Our next session will focus on Nicolette Krebitz’s 2016 drama Wild. Lead actress Lilith Stangenberg delivers a furious, tour-de-force performance as Ania, a young woman whose anarchist tendencies are ignited by an encounter with a wolf, forcing her to confront and perhaps escape her relationship with society. Wild soon reveals itself as a kind of philosophical provocation asking increasingly knotty questions about conformity, society, and desire. A fearless, visceral film, shot through with forbidden lust, it asks us to consider that the line between the feral and the erotic is finer than we might like to think.

Wild premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. At the 2017 German Film Awards, it won in the categories Outstanding Feature Film, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound. Krebitz was also recognized as Best Director at the 2017 Bavarian Film Awards.

Hosted by Jim Kolmar

Jim programs for SXSW and Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival, and was a founding committee member of Festival Internacional de Cine Tulum (FICTU). He has participated in numerous international festival juries, panels, and committees.
