Second Karriere Quantum Camp taking place in 2024
2 - 9 November 2024 at the Goethe-Institut in Rome
In the week from 2-9 November 2024, the second of a total of five educational Karriere Quantum camps took place in the vibrant city of Rome, following its successful debut in Dublin earlier that August. The event brought together 20 talented students and 10 passionate teachers from Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, forming ten dynamic teams of three. In partnership with TüftelLab Berlin, Karriere Quantum continues its mission to spread a European awareness of career opportunities in quantum technologies in Germany, which is why the camp focuses particularly on empowering young adults, who not only showcased impressive foundational scientific knowledge, but also displayed remarkable creativity and precision in developing and presenting their innovative creative pieces.
Before the official opening of the educational camp, the first day in Rome served to get to know each other while discovering the lively streets of the city, strengthening the group spirit with the help of team-building activities. Over the next few days, the students worked on improving their German language skills through lessons that built on online sessions held before and after the camp, and took part in hands-on quantum workshops, developing ideas to tackle exciting experimental projects. The teachers joined the Teacher Ambassadors Programme where they developed creative ways to include quantum concepts in their very own lessons. The week wrapped up with inspiring presentations, showcasing the innovative ideas and teamwork that had grown throughout the camp.
The thoughtfully organised leisure programme enriched the experience with an inspiring visit to the Enrico Fermi Museum, where participants explored quantum technologies in a historical context.
Thanks to the financial support of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and the collaboration of the Goethe-Instituts in Rome and Dublin, the camp seamlessly combined education, cultural exchange, and international research. It offered a perfect harmony of learning and creativity, sparking not only curiosity in quantum technologies but also friendships that transcend borders.
