Ale de la Puente
Ale de la Puente is a multifaceted artist whose explorations span disciplines such as design, boatbuilding, navigation, astronomy, physics, and philosophy. Known for her poetic and conceptual explorations of time and space across various mediums, including installations, sculptures, drawings, photography, video, and audio. She also leads art science expeditions to uncover symbolic natural phenomena and examine our interpretation and relationship with their meaning.
She has forged partnerships with esteemed institutions such as the Astronomy Institute, Nuclear Science Institute of UNAM, the Smith Ocean Institute, Roscosmos, and the Kosmica Institute to develop innovative art projects. Since being awarded the Honorary Mention Collide@CERN in 2013, Ale has engaged in collaborations with scientists from CERN, resulting in numerous impactful projects. Notable among these are La Gravedad de los Asuntos (Matters of Gravity) and Los pies en el agua y la mirada en las estrellas, esperando el relámpago (Feet in the water, staring at the stars, expecting the lightning), alongside her recent project titled 5th of April, of 15,232.
She currently holds a Sistema Nacional de Creadores Fellowship in Mexico. Her work has been exhibited internationally at institutions such as the Museo de Arte e Historia de Guanajuato, Laboratorio de Arte Alameda, Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Museo de Arte actual Ex-Teresa, and Museo de Arte Moderno MAM in Mexico. Additionally, her exhibitions have been featured at the Polytechnic Museum in Moscow, KSEVT in Slovenia, Rubin Center in the United States, Centro Cultural Montehermoso in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, Bass Museum of Art in Miami, Florida, Tokyo Wonder Site in Tokyo, Japan, MALBA in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the Museo de Arte del Banco de la República in Bogota, Colombia. She will develop her project Clouded Quantum in Johannesburg, South Africa.
