“Fehler” is a yearlong celebration of mistakes and their innovative power – this online zine brings together accidents, disruptions, and deviations in systems from around the world. Our editorial team is made up of Goethe-Institut colleagues based in Los Angeles, Montreal, Munich, New Delhi, and Washington, DC.
But what is a “Fehler”?
Simply put, a “Fehler” is a mistake, but it’s also the response to one of life’s big questions: how do we innovate and make progress? Our answer: often by mistake.
The Goethe-Instituts in Germany, India, Canada, and the US are paying homage to the mistake and collecting the most outstanding errors, faults, and flaws out there. We’ve documented our findings in this multimedia compilation – in the form of anecdotes, essays, podcasts, illustrations, listicles, videos, debates, and photo series.
