Biennalocene. Se ’l mare fosse de tocio

Incondizionatamente. Vita, reddito, amore. Piazzale Selinunte, Milan, September 2022 ph Courtesy of Festival Base
A performative investigation into the conditions of cultural work in Venice.

The dramaturgy emerged from a series of interviews with a group of workers in the Venetian cultural industry. It is the interviewees themselves who will bring to the stage their reflections on professional and existential precarity, housing, income, and the future of the lagoon city in the face of global warming.

The performance builds up on Art For UBI, a project of the Institute of Radical Imagination that began in 2021 with the collective writing of a manifest, positioning the art world in favor of a universal and unconditional basic income (UBI), which led to the publication of the book Art For UBI (Manifesto) (Bruno, 2021).

Biennalocene. Se l mare fosse de tocio is an initiative of the Goethe-Institut and the Institute of Radical Imagination as part of the Performing Architecture project of the Goethe-Institut, in collaboration with Sale Docks. Performing Architecture is part of the official program of the German Pavilion at the 18th Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia. in Zusammenarbeit mit Sale Docks.
