Iceman Reborn

The film from the American PBS science series NOVA, explores the challenges and technologies involved in creating an exact replica of the 5 000-year-old mummy known as Ötzi. Researchers invite paleo-artist Gary Staab to inspect the mummy so he can create a life-size model of “the Iceman” that researchers and the public can view and study. Through the preparations and studies of Gary Staab as he embarks on his mission, the audience not early learns about his technique, but also about Ötzi and the world he inhabited. A dramatic and beautifully film aimed at engaging the general public in science and technology. This outstanding piece of science communication explores the origins of early human life on Earth by solving an archaeological and genetic mystery.
