Behind the Wall

University and General Public

"Behind the Wall" is a thought-provoking documentary that weaves a poignant narrative through the poetry of Rossanee Nurfarida, a finalist of the 2016 South East Asian (SEA) Writers Award, and the insightful perspectives of academics and locals affected by shoreline erosion in Songkhla Province. This environmental crisis, exacerbated by hazardous coastal infrastructure, serves as the backdrop for a larger discussion on the impacts of human intervention on natural landscapes. Directed by the talented Chonchanok Thanatteepwong, at just 23 years old, who has already made her mark with several short films and music videos, and served as an assistant director intern to Jakrawal Nilthamrong on "Anatomy Of Time" (2021), the film skillfully combines visual storytelling with deep intellectual inquiry. "Behind the Wall" not only highlights the urgent environmental issues facing Songkhla but also amplifies the voices of those who are often unheard, offering a compelling look at the intersection of culture, science, and nature.
