The Science Film Festival 2024 was held for the first time in Cameroon on November 2 and 9 at the Laboratoire d'éveil Science pour Tous in Yaoundé and the Forest Creative Loft in Douala. Focusing on the theme Net Zero and Circular Economy, the festival aimed to promote scientific culture and raise awareness about pressing environmental, technological, and scientific challenges.
The event engaged 50 children from diverse backgrounds, aged 5–16, from public and private schools in both cities. Activities included the screening of six festival films, hands-on workshops, quizzes, and interactive animations, fostering participatory learning and engagement with the theme.
The festival was praised for its organization and impact, with participants and facilitators highlighting the value of interactive learning. However, some parents suggested expanding the event to other cities to broaden its reach and influence.
