Emely Fuchs

Student

Emely Fuchs is a senior at Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium in Lebach (in Saarland, Germany). Named after Hans and Sophie Scholl, the German brother and sister who were members of the White Rose non-violent student resistance movement, her high school is committed to the form of tolerance and moral courage exemplified by its courageous eponyms. Emely is involved in the school’s Workshop on Remembrance (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Erinnerungsarbeit), which seeks to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive. She feels it is incumbent on young people to grapple with history and take responsibility for the future.
