Rodrigo Montoya Rojas

Anthropologist

Rodrigo Montoya Rojas, born in Puquio-Ayacucho, is an anthropologist and writer. He has PhD in Anthropology from the Universidad de San Marcos and a PhD in Sociology from Paris Descartes University. His main works deal with the development of capitalism in Peru and its articulation with indigenous peoples in the economic, political, literary and cultural spheres in the plural, as opposed to the so-called “high culture of”, culture in the singular understood as a synonym for the fine arts, struggles for land, agrarian reform and capitalist development, and for the territory in the Amazon. He has been and still is visiting professor in various Universities in Europe (France, Spain), Latin America and the United States. His latest publications are Encanto y celebración del wayno (Enchantment and celebration of the wayno) and Culturas, realidad, teoría y poder (Cultures, reality, theory and power).
